Where AdShelf works
AdShelf runs on chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com. It reads sponsored ad elements on those pages and inspects a copy of the ChatGPT conversation updates response to extract structured ad data. The library can include ads returned by ChatGPT even if they were not displayed.
What AdShelf saves in your browser
- Ad titles, descriptions, advertiser names, prices, ad identifiers, destination links, image and logo URLs, capture times, and whether the ad was displayed.
- Up to 500 characters of a user prompt associated with the ad, when available. The library labels this field “Search term.” It can contain personal information if you entered it in ChatGPT.
- A ChatGPT conversation link when available, without query parameters or fragments. The path can contain a conversation identifier.
- Raw ad response objects extracted from ChatGPT, and extension settings such as your language preference.
AdShelf uses this data to build the ad library, match and deduplicate ads, and let you search, filter, and export records. Local records are stored in your browser profile.
Images, links, and exports
When the library displays an ad image or logo, your browser can request it from the original image host, which can receive your IP address and ordinary request information. If you open an ad or conversation link, the destination site handles that visit under its own privacy practices.
CSV and JSON exports are saved to your device when requested. They can contain prompt excerpts and conversation links, and JSON exports can also contain raw ad responses. Review exported files before sharing them.
Your choices
You can disable the extension to stop future collection. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local data from that browser profile. It does not remove downloaded files.
